Reports from Liz Clarke:-

Bedworth Utd 0 Brinklow 4
8th November 2008

This was one of the best performances I've seen from the girls. On a very heavy, muddy pitch they played their excellent passing game but were unable to get the ball in the back of the net during the first half despite many, many chances.

The second half saw us with the slope in our favour and although the muddy pitch was heavy going the girls never gave up and were rewarded with a well taken goal from Hollie Craddock. A second soon followed, from Hollie again, and then a third for Hollie, which was a result of a brilliant throw in from Sophie May. Hollie then finished off with a fourth goal, which came from a great pass from Chelsea Smith.

Excellent performances from every team member today. Their passing was a delight to watch.  Alice Clarke in goal didn't really have much to do today but she kept focussed and encouraged the team in her usual inimitable style; Bex Wilby and Megan Bradey at the back were fantastic (what a great goal line clearance from Megan!); Adey Thandy, Boots Morrison and Hollie Craddock played their hearts out as did Sophie May and Chelsea Smith when they came on to give some tired legs a rest; Jess Linnell our striker played like her life depended on it - how she didn't score today is a mystery.

Goals: Hollie Craddock 4

Referee's Player of the Match awarded to Hollie Craddock with the Manager's Player of the Match being awarded to Megan Bradley. I think it's the best performance I've ever seen from Megan.

So, top of the league - well done girls you were a credit to yourselves and to Brinklow FC today.

This was never going to be a high-scoring game, but nonetheless we stuck at it and we rewarded with a win.

Yet again though we were struggling to finish - something we need to work on. Another goal from our new striker Jessica Linnell saw us 1-0 up at half time, but we could have quite easily been 3 or 4 up. The second half saw us play some great football with Hollie Craddock scoring our second goal mid way through the second half.

So, all in all, a great performance from the entire team.

Referee's Player of the Match being awarded to Hollie Craddock with Manager's Player of the Match going to Harriet Lowe.

Admirals 6 Brinklow 0
11th October 2008

We went into this match against our 'bogey' team really believing we could win this after the highs of our previous win. Unfortunately, it was not to be and Admirals showed their class once again.

We were outplayed during the first half and just didn't seem to have woken up. An injury to Alice meant a replacement in goal in the second half so many thanks to Hollie for stepping in. Alice managed to come on the field in a defensive role in the second half.

We played better in the second half but we really do need to work on keeping hold of the ball, passing and communicating with each other. If we want to win this league, we've got to step up to the mark and play as well as I know you all can. A disappointing result but let's not be too downhearted. We lost to a fantastic team who we just can't seem to beat.

Manager's Player of the Match awarded to Bethany "Boots" Morrison with Referee's Player of the Match going to Alice Clarke.

Report from Liz Clarke:-

The long awaited first match of the season was played this morning in very warm conditions at Wolston Leisure Centre.

The first half saw Brinklow miss chance after chance. Alice Clarke in goal was throwing herself in all directions to save all the shots that were being shot at her. We went down 1-0 to a fantastic goal from our opposition from just inside the halfway line. So we were down a goal at half time

The second half saw another goal go in from Bedworth but then the Brinklow girls just dug in for all they were worth and were rewarded with a fantastic goal from Hollie Craddock. So 2-1 with 15 minutes to go. Then a magnificent move between Hollie Craddock and Jessica Linnell saw us equalise with a great goal from Jessica on her debut for this team.

All in all, a fantastic performance from this team in the heat.

Alice Clarke - great performance in goal that kept us in the match
Rebekah Wilby - solid in defence as usual and without a break
Megan Bradley - another strong defender who had no fear today
Harriet Lowe - solid in defence and took on the central midfield role when she was needed
Bethany "Boots" Morrison - what a great performance in the midfield - should have scored 3 or 4 in the first half
Adey Thandy - what great skills on the wing
Chelsea Smith - our little whippet in the midfield
Hollie Craddock - just amazing, never gives up and was rewarded with a great goal
Jessica Linnell - super striker, who can shout and battled and battled and scored a well deserved goal on her debut.

Referee's Player of the Match awarded to Jessica Linnell with the Manager's Player of the Match going to Alice Clarke for a courageous Captain's performance.

Thanks to Neil Huddlestone for ref duties today, to David Lowe & Paul Wilby for helping with goals and to all the supporters who encouraged the girls today.
